ORDINARY MIRACLES
Why is it so easy to find ourselves in anxiety, overwhelm, resentment, disappointment, when there is so much to be thankful for and truly enjoy? Even living with ‘My Dad’s Swallows’ has become normal, a tad mundane. It’s like every day I am lulled to sleep to all the opportunity for joy and delight around me. I walk as a sleepwalker believing I am walking through a dream which is not of my choosing.
Sharing my bed with little ants, bugs and moths, the one’s that got away from the baby swallow’s demanding mouths is really no hardship. It’s quite fun, part of the mystery of their comings and goings and a privilege in an out of the box sort of way.
Everything is a choice. How we view the world and what we choose to focus on.
Today, 22 November, is the one-year anniversary of my Dad’s death. Today, the next generation of swallows left the nest and took wing. Isn’t that remarkable? I could choose to feel sad today, but the miracle of the swallows’ timing to fledge helps me to choose again. How wonderful. There are magic moments everywhere to encourage us.

A tiny blade of grass perfectly placed under the holes in the cement, turning the ground into a smile. Just for Me. Daily gifts and reminders sent to buoy our spirits and champion us on. If we would only remember to look!
I’m calling to mind a conversation I overheard at a race meet in the 90’s: When you stand jockeys on their money, they are the tallest people in the world. When I stack up my ordinary miracles, I find I’m not the tallest person in the world, nor the richest. I find I am a person who always finds plenty of extraordinary evidence that life is meant to be fun, enchanting and good. Very Good.
Here are a few more of my favourite ordinary miracles. Start making a collection of your own and prepare to be amazed and delighted!

I would love for you to share your ‘ordinary miracles’ with me.
